Look, a post
Happy Tuesday to you.
Marriage seriously cuts into my Xanga posting. At work, I’m not supposed to upload photos. At home, I have other things to do and don’t think about it.
Stuff going on:
- Doctor appointments. Finally getting some answers. (Nothing serious, fortunately.)
- Alicia’s work permit came in the mail, but not yet her green card. She urgently needs to travel to Colombia in May. Turns out I should have filed a travel permit request when I filed her other papers in January. So we have an appointment Thursday at Immigration to see what we can do.
- Got my taxes filed Saturday.
- My Dallas house sold April 2. That’s a huge blessing. Now I can catch up on a few bills.
- Applied for Alicia’s Social Security card.
- Bought a lawn mower. Still in the box a week and a half later…
- Alicia’s sister Angela has been singing every Friday night at the local Colombian restaurant. We show up to give her support. Alicia usually sings a song or two with her. Last Friday I sang the song I sang at our wedding. No one was paying attention so it wasn’t too stressful.
- Alicia and I discovered that, despite our gym work, we haven’t been losing weight. We’ve signed up with a trainer.
- Got the lake house on the market, but it needs some work. I wish I was there to help.
- Our water pressure has dropped ridiculously low. I need to run new pipe from the well to the house. Fun.
I hope you are well.

Busy busy! Congrats on selling your house finally. I hope Alicia gets to go back home in May.
Oh you have really been busy!
Aww. Sounds really rewarding all-around.
It sounds as if you are making good progress towards making your move complete.
I’ve never thought about other countries not having social security numbers… now…quick get the mower out before you have to buy a bigger mower
also I’m glad your doctor results aren’t serious, that’s a good thing – like singing
I’m well, just busy. Glad your TX house sold. That’s good news. Would love to go to the Colombian restaurant and hear Alicia and her sister sing.
I’m glad your house sold. That’s always a relief. It sounds like you are busy in a good way for the most part. It always annoys me to know that some people are using social media when they are supposed to be working–I wonder how much that costs companies? Oh well, not the time to rant, but I’m glad you don’t do it.
@mlbncsga - Other countries have their own social security systems. The doctor results aren’t for me.
sounds like you two are getting along and enjoying each other’s presence
i’m glad. be well and do continue to keep dropping in
Is it really that difficult to get visas and such? My son wants to bring his female friend over to the U.S. (from Serbia), for a 2-3 wk visit. They’re having time and trouble with this process. Is that normal?
Good luck with Alicia’s green card. How long will she be gone in May? SO O O O happy you sold your Dallas home Tim. Congratulations. Have you heard from my cousin. She was telling me that she needed to call you.
Exercise is maybe 10% of losing weight. 90% is diet. May as well get used to it.
Great about the Dallas house….good to put the lake house up for sale. Keep at it on the weight….I finally found a good plan and it is working.
HUGS…sorry we didn’t connect at spring break.
Farmers near you are taking all the water.
@armnatmom - It’s a pain in the butt, depending on the country.
@ZSA_MD - Alicia mentioned your cousin the other day, but I keep forgetting to call her. Alicia will probably spend two months in Colombia, sorting out her university retirement, insurance, recordings, concerts, and I don’t remember what else. I’ll go down for the last three weeks of her visit.
There was a time when just exercise was enough for me, but these days I need all the help I can get! I always wondered what having a trainer would be like. You’ll have to let us know, when you get the chance!
That’s a long time for Alicia to be gone already, but I’m glad you will get to be there fit almost half of it. That will be fun!
Sound like a lot of burdens have been resolved! Of course there are always new ones waiting in the wings, but it sounds like life is running a little more smoothly for you.
@suzyQ_darnit - I can see some results with just two or three sessions of harder exercise, but Alicia doesn’t yet. The biggest difference is a wider variety of exercises with more reps and lower weights
I am well.
That is terrific news about the house! What a major relief that must be.
That water-pressure issue sounds worrying. I hope the new pipe fixes it.
I don’t think I could lose weight in Tampa.
@distractedbyzombies - It looks like the pipe leaving the pump is galvanized, so it’s probably full of crud. I’m planning to bypass it with PVC pipe to see if that solves the problem. If it does, I’ll dig a ditch to the house and lay new pipe. If it doesn’t, I’ll call a pump guy.
It’s a huge relief to have the house off my back. The equity is not enough to offset all my recent debt (move, weddings, bringing Alicia, new house-related stuff) but at least I can knock off most of one card.
marriage cuts into my blogging too… i always try to do it when shayne’s not around and i could be spending time with him. or paying attention to the kids! it’s tough to keep all the priorities straight sometimes.
)
congrats on the house selling. i know that’s huge!
@suzyQ_darnit – Thanks, I always wondered! That’s great for quick results! I feel for Alicia, I think it is always more difficult for ladies.
@Roadkill_Spatula - Digging ditches in Tampa, wow. Maybe you will lose weight after all. I hope you pick a cool day and stay hydrated.
Equity is a nice thing. I mentally group it with overpaying taxes and getting back money you forgot about. Unless you are expecting it and then it is mostly just expected.
Yay for the house being sold! I hope the new owners will treasure all that cool tile work you did. I hope the visa sorts out, & the water piping too. I am finally going to get all the rewiring redone in my condo. It is sobering being a homeowner!
Please give Alicia a big hug for me. I’ll be sending Claire’s tablet soon.
