A bit frazzled
I'm scheduled to leave Dallas this weekend. I have a truck reserved for Friday, and will have until the 7th to turn it in in Tampa. Most of my offspring will come over Friday to help me load.
Yesterday was the last Sunday lunch we will ever share in this house. It didn't feel that different. Afterwards we watched an episode of My Little Pony and a couple of Haven. It was spooky how similar the storylines were! (Haven is a series about a Maine town in which all kinds of paranormal stuff happens.)
Last night I packed up the dining room decor, using a huge double-thick cardboard box that my upstairs sink/countertop came in. I wrapped each picture in bubble wrap or paper and divided the box into sections with cardboard. One picture was a photo from @plantinthewindow. Some of the bubble wrap I used was what my painting from @Oceanstarr came in.
Tonight I'll use another big flat cardboard box to pack the Oceanstarr painting, the big one from Costa Rica, and a massive frame that holds several large photos.
I'll also pack up the Colombian dishes and the nested bowls I got from @SandraErickson. Then I'll take the glass shelves out of the hutch and wrap them in cardboard.
The garage is going to be the real killer. So much stuff...
Realistically, I could use several days of vacation to empty out my house and take care of a few details on it. I may delay my departure until Sunday or Monday in order to get more things done. Except for having told my future boss that I'll start there on the 6th, there's no reason for me to rush to Tampa. The house purchase is still held up because the bank hasn't issued the letter accepting my short sale offer. I'll probably end up calling my future boss and telling her I need another day or two.
At work I got stuck with a four-hour recording to transcribe. Fortunately I can summarize most of it. But it still sucks, and I'm struggling to stay awake.

That picture is beautiful and good luck packing and doing the remaining stuff. Moving is always stressful but I am sure you will see many benefits very shortly!
Good Luck Tim will be thinking of you
Yes, moving is a bit like being in labor: a lot of work, a total pain, a really big push at the end to get it done, but OH, BABY, is it worth it! I think an extra day or two is a great choice. Not rushing to the eastern seaboard seems a no brainer, today. Very excited for you. Wrap those bowls well.
Never realize how much stuff we collect ..... I was going to say trush, but that is my case, not yours.
@carlo - I've collected a lot of trash. I have a big boxful of paper to shred, and I'm sure a lot of what's in the garage will end up on the curb for the trash collectors.
you need more coffee - I still love the fish in your dining room, be extra careful with it!
@mlbncsga - The fish got a place of honor in the top of that big box.
Love the painting, very pretty. Good luck on the move. I wish you a safe trip.
Sounds like you've got your hands full. Maybe you could just leave your garage open with a big sign that reads "EVERYTHING FREE." That should get it cleaned out in a hurry. It's what we did at my sister's old apartment.
Good luck with the rest of the week and the packing. That is a big job.
Tim I don't envy you. I did it in '94, into two boxes and six suitcases.
The supposed 3 categories of the fate of household stuff quickly turns
into 19 tracks, with 3 of them to the landfill, just by different paths.
You are wise to hug those art works. The one you pictured here is sublime
Packing is hard work ! Carbs is important---really, they give you a consistent supply of energy for later on when you pack..protein as well. I know because I HATE packing but this seems to help.XOXO
I know it will be such a relief when all the packing, moving and adjusting gets done.
So nice to see this piece again. The only image I had of it is on my other computer which bit the dust some time ago. As always, my best wishes for as smooth a move as possible. We've helped a bunch of folks fairly recently and it can be so incredibly overwhelming even when it's someone else's house!
reccomendation. youngliving essential oils has a blend called joy. it is partialy rose oil which if you taste it will make you spil an large sea...but you will burst with energy. ;) there is something to be said for sniffing or whatever the roses.
All the best! Try to whistle while you work!
love the painting. moving is tough work. take the days if you can.
"Most of my offspring..." My gosh. How many kids do you have?
I see you are busy tieing up loose ends and getting ready for your next step into your new adventure. I am excited for you.
