@winniezpoo - The house we bid on is in Valrico. I'll be working in St. Pete. My stepmom lives in Siloam Springs, not far from Rogers. She worked at John Brown University, and was a classmate of my mom and dad there in the early 1950s.
Sweetheart, I am so hopeful you will get the house in Tampa you want. Where is it located? (the general neighborhood) I have SO many friends and family there! I will be down just for the day on St. Pete Beach this month.
Also, where is your son and step mom in Arkansas? You know I have a brother and nieces and nephews there in the Rogers/Bella Vista area. I wouldn't cross the street to see my brother, but I am going to love seeing my relatives for Thanksgiving this year! I fly into Fayetteville Nov. 20th. I actually found a timeshare in Bella Vista for the kids and me! Have a great one. When do you actually leave Texas now?
@winniezpoo - EAFIT is a private university, and the Colombo-Americano is a partly US-funded place with courses, library, movies, art gallery, etc. My understanding is that they pay $12 an hour to new teachers. Having a degree and experience would give you an advantage. I don't know what they pay the most experienced ones. Some things are cheaper in Colombia, some are more, but if you're careful, you can live all right on $1500-2000 a month.
@Roadkill_Spatula - I do have a master's degree but it is in Gifted Education. I have taught English for 25 full time years, some part time and ESL for the whole time! Do they have teachers of English at the University? I speak not nearly as much Spanish as I should! Alas, it is a sad thing! Thanks for the encouragement. I should think about it now and maybe submit my paperwork. What is the cost of living there? Salaries?
@winniezpoo - I live in Dallas. My fiancee is in MedellĂn. You could get a job at the Colombo-Americano there, or at EAFIT, if you want to stay a while.
@Roadkill_Spatula - Do you live in Columbia now? I am trying to decide where to visit when my mom's estate is settled. My daughter is taking Spanish (2nd year in HS) and I am an ESL teacher in Richmond, VA. I spent 40 years in Florida and my best friends are Hispanic! LOL
@winniezpoo - Thank you. I knew Alicia briefly when I was 15, and didn't see her again until last year when I went to Colombia on a work assignment. We hit it off right away. It has been wonderful.
I hope that you are your bride-to-be live happily ever after! You give me hope that there is someone for me out there!
@DickDoktorII - I hope things get better for you. Sounds like you have had a rough time of late.
I'm out on temporary parole, trying to visit before it's time to return to my duties around here. distractedbyzombies - took the words right out of my mouth! nice to see you too and Merci Gracias for the welcome back!
@distractedbyzombies - Thank you, sir. And I do believe you are the first person in five years to use my chatboard.
You know, you are a really handsome couple.
